My 8 year old siberian husky was the runt of the litter. I want to know wether being the runt will have any effect on how long she will live.
thanks!

We had a rottweiler, named Beau, who was the runt of the litter. He lived to be 10 years old, but had a hard life and had to be put down . He was in our house when it burned, and his lungs were severly damaged, but he lived for five years after that. He had hip dysplasia and another younger male dog from the neighborhood came to our yard and attacked him. In the end, it was too much for his old tired body and we put him down. I have no doubt that,if not for that fire, he would have lived a lot longer. Thanks for asking this question and giving me the opporunity to talk about my buddy, who has been gone for 3 1/2 yrs now!

many times the smallest cat interior the clutter is named the runt. yet there are 2 varieties of runts. One is largely a smaller cat, smaller via fact that is genetically going to be smaller, or maybe it became conceived a pair of days later than that is littermates. yet some runts are the sickly kittens, those born small via fact there is a few thing incorrect with them. those in lots of instances die off till human beings intervene. those are the cats that the momma has a tendency to push away as she is customary with of they at the instant are not healthful. So your kitten might or is probably no longer a runt - with any clutter of kittens, there could be dissimilar fathers so which you haven't any longer any thought approximately what style of genes are all blended up in there. He might have had a small father, or he might have been conceived later than the others. that is impossible to foretell, rather. He might seize up in length, or he could be genetically destined to be a small cat! Time will tell.

The runt of the litter does not affect how long it will live and most likely it may live longer. As long as you are doing the proper care and vet checks, you will have as much time with your pet as any one would of the same breed that is normal. And l have the runt of the litter and she out live her siblings.

It really depends on how it was taken care of. I know when my cat had kittens, the runt of the litter couldn't get fed (it was pushed out of the way), so we had to bottle-feed it. If you are taking care of all the puppies, make sure you give it special care and I think it will be ok. If you are getting it from someone else, just be careful with it, but overall I think you'll be fine.

I don't think it will, my friend has a dog (Rollo) that was the runt, and he's outlived all his littermates. Most of them ended up with parvo and died from it, but Rollo managed to beat it.

I dont think so. If you feed them a correct diet and take it for regular vet check ups I'd say it should live as long as all the others!

No! As long as he is cared for, he should live as long as, if not longer, then his littermates!
