I have Vonage. I pay $31.99 a month including taxes and the E911 fee. I have the unlimited free minutes to any where in the US and parts of Europe and Canada. I have all the calling features. I was with Bellsouth and were paying $44 a month for local and long distance with no calling features, including no caller id. Vonage even includes a voicemail plan that can be accessed by phone or online and a alert is sent to your email when you get one.
The best part was getting the service to begin with. When I got mine you could get the basic Motorola box for free (about a $40 value). I went with the Vonage Motorola unit with the router for up to 4 computer hook up. I got this for 1/2 price. I also got my first month for free. When you refer a friend you get 2 more months for free. I referred a relative and got 3 months free all together.
Just last month I received a gift card from Vonage for $25 that can be used like a American Express credit card. So the benefits keep rolling in.

I pay $27/month for AT&T. I don't have any special features (no call waiting, caller ID), I pay additional for unlisted number, and I use my cell phone for long distance. I can make 100 calls/month without the fee changing. If I go over the 100 calls, I pay an additional 10 cents/call.
I'm in the Chicago area.

I have MCI's Neighborhood Unlimited Plan.
For $74 a month (including tax) I get:
Unlimited local, local toll and long distance
Voice mail (You get emails to work or your cell when you get a new voice mail)
Call waiting
Caller ID and Call Waiting Caller ID
Anonymous Call Rejection
Call Forwarding
Speed Dial
Also, you get a free month for signing up, and once a year.
If you call customer service for any reason, they give you a credit toward your bill (you get it back in cash, via your debit card).
You get $1 a month off for using online billing.
I am very happy with them. One month my bill was $7 due to all the refunds I got.
I left AT&T for them and I could not be happier with a phone company!
I'm in Los Angeles.
