Any tips for basic training? I am joining the Air Force, and I am in pretty good shape. I have been training hard, but I want to avoid making common mistakes, especially when I first arrive.

As long as you're in shape, it shouldn't be that bad! Just don't argue and do as you're told!

You don't need to train hard for AF basic. They will do PT in the gym if it rains, I don't think they ever take you on a 5 mile run, you probably don't take tents and sleep on the ground, it is kind of like summer camp with guys that yell at you a few times.

Just follow directions and don't be a "know-it-all"----drill instructors hate that! Also, if you can do basic physical training (2 mile run, situps, and pushups), you will be fine! Show initiative when neccessary and study the handbook.
It's easy, nowadays. I came up in the "old" ARMY, and it was tough, but now it is a piece of cake!!!!!

Give it up.......everone will make some mistakes. All I can tell you is run more and do alot of cardio to help prepare you for the physical activity. Good luck.

Do what you're told, the minute you're told to do it. Don't question orders. Don't whine. You'll be fine.

Listen. Do as you're told, say "Yes Sir!", and love the country you fight for. Bless you, and thanks!
