I am going to Flordia on my spring break this year. I am 15 and I am staying with my uncle and his partner, he is gay. I have talked with them a lot on the phone and I know them pretty well, but I usually only see them once every couple of years. So when we do talk it's akward. I am a little concerened about being the only girl in a house with 2 gay men. Also they have a room mate that is an older straight male. Has anyone here been in a similair situation and does anyone have any tips on things I should or should not do while I am staying there? Don't get me wrong, I love them, I just don't want things to be akward and I don't want to look stupid.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Just be yourself and youll do fine. I have a gay sister and Im close to her and her partner, so I know where youre coming from. Youll be ok, just act like you normally would.*

Just go and have a good time. Your uncle's sex life is none of your business and I'm sure if his partner was a woman the issue would never have come up at all. And unless you think that the other roommate is a pedophile.. don't worry about him either. If he is.. well.. you shouldn't be going there at all! But if your family trusts your uncle to supervise you.. just have a great spring break! I'm sure you won't be hanging around the house with a bunch of middle aged men all the time anyway!

I can understand why you would be concerned. Even I would feel awkward living with three men I don't know very well. Is there any possibility you can take along one of your girl friends? If money is an issue and your friend's parents cannot afford to send her on the trip, see if you can talk your parents or uncle into helping out and splitting the cost with them. It would, afterall, be for your benefit to let her tag along so maybe they'd agree to help foot the bill. Hey, you never know until you ask! Have fun!

Take a friend. Lock your door at night when you sleep and when you shower. At the very least sleep with pajamas on. Your uncles will be fine but it's the other male in the house that you should be guarded against. Just don't get to friendly with him.

Just treat your Uncle and his partner as a couple, they really are no different!

I doubt very much that you have anything to worry about by being the only girl there. You are more likely to be fiercely protected than anything else!

As long as nobody puts on the zipper hood, I see no reason for awkwardness.

really, you girls have got to get over this uncomfortableness about everything that isn't to your liking. Life is uncomfortable - get used to it.

Stay calm. Remember they are only people just like you. Be yourself.
