There is this saying: A boy is a son till he takes a wife, but a girl is a daughter all of her life. Think about where do men spend most holidays (X-mas, Thanksgiv...) - usually at their wife's parents' house, and the man's parents (the wife's IN-LAWS) don't see them that often. Which grandparents get to see their grandchildren more often? man's or wife's?? Of course this may be different in different cultures. My husband and I just wanted 1 child and we wanted a girl - we got what we wanted (27 yrs ago) and we stopped there. She is true to the saying above and we are very happy.

Because, a girl in the family is like a flower in the garden. Without flowers the garden doesnt get that charm. So also in the family, a girls nature is she spreads love and affection to all her family members & shares the burdens of her family. Where as in boys, they enjoy more being out with friends etc. They are not as obeying and caring as girls. But, the worst part is that a girl is sent out of the house to another house to brighten that house when she gets married. So, a girl from childhood till her death, always lives for others with different positions with age such as a daughter, sister, daughter in law, mother, aunt, mother in law etc. In all these she just sacrifices herself for the well being of others just spreading her love & affection. That is why even the earth is compared to mother. As mothers love for her child is genuine and incomparable with any other relationships.

I dont think that is totally thruthful because i have a daughter and let me tell you i have been planning the next pregnancy according to the chinese calandar so that i have a son the next time and I have told my husband that we are going to keep trying until we have a boy.....not that i love my daughter any less....she is my life! but I would like a son next...you know what they say....mommys boy...daddys girl so it all depends on the parent but parents should never love one child more than the next based on gender. Trust me, your parents would love you no matter what!

It's simple.
Just as a boy prefers a girl more than a boy, the father prefers his daughter than a son.And as some girls prefer boys and some girls prefer girls, the same way some mother prefer their sons and some mothers prefer their daughters.
Got it ?

if u r a teenage son which i think u r
the lets face it i m too in ur community and lets admit it siters r always the emotional lot we mite be loving r parents to the same extent but we always fail to express it and always kind of have a barrier
daughters r v close to parents on the emotional front hence they seem to get more love and affection
being a son have u ever offered ur parents a glass of water gaging they were tired ,daughters always seem to do it hence more loved i think its pretty justified

It is tradition bound. But,it is changing for good.

In olden days men alone were considered as bread winners and treated as head of the families, providing financial ,emotional, mental and social securities.

Now-a-days, girls are getting educated ,employed, financially becoming independent an boys and their parents are no longer in a position to argue their case in favour of dowry.

Now-a-days boy and girl are equal in education, employment etc and it is time dowry is shown the door from the hall of marriage.
If only girls and their parents unite(form an association ? anti dowry marriage sociery?)
Dowry can be abolished. Gender discrimination is on the way out.No one really bothers about a boy or a girl in educated class of people.
It is already happening among the educated masses.

Okay. Nobody else really seems to believe your theory, but I really do. I have an older brother who's 2 years older than me and my parents do favor me a lot. For instance, my dad will generally take me on probably close to 20 vacations a year and he hardly ever takes my brother anywhere. And, as much as I hate to admit it, my dad and I gang up on my brother a lot. I think it's because they put so much work into raising me to be a tomboy and now I am. Also, my brother has a lot of learning disabilities and is generally pretty high-maintenance. My parents are considering sending him to a community college for a semester when he goes to college so that he can ajust to the college life and they don't have to waste their money for him to sleep through his classes (their words, not mine). But for me, they're completely supportive of me going to college across the country.

Also, just as a side note, girls tend to mature faster than boys, so they're a lot easier to deal with.

Don't know... I always longed for a daughter because I wanted my child just to be exactly as loving, caring, and a good person like my wife is.

But I believe we should worry about the gender of our babies. Whatever it is, boy or a girl, is your baby. Your love for your child won't alter for it's gender, will it? Finally it's a wonderful gift offered to each of you by your love...

:-)

All I'm going to say is I'd be real happy if I had one son, and one daughter. My little boy's name would be Jonathan Michael Mohrmann, and my little girl's name would be Linda Michelle Mohrmann.
