My fiance is from Texas and I live in Ohio and we are getting married in July. I know that there are more very important people that I want at my wedding that would not be able to afford traveling far. He however has fewer people that wouldn't be able to afford it. So we decided to have it here. That is what I suggest. That way both of you can have important people with you. Good luck!

You and your husband just have to make some choices. Know your resources. Can you afford one or two more ceremonies? They don't have to be expensive, but that is your choice. How quickly do you want the ceremonies performed? Could you do one in the near future and another elsewhere a year later? It could be a neat anniversary party? This is for your family's benefit. It won't help you or your spouse. Whatever you do, have fun. Such ceremonies are celebrations as much as anything else. Even a marriage ceremony is a celebration. Treat is as such.
Answering those who say your wedding is what it is, forget that. You won't be re-marrying, but you can have as many ceremonies as you want. Have fun and honor one another.

McyD's idea was good. Have a small wedding on each coast. Or else plan a vacationi wedding and invite close family. It will be a vacation for everybody. I would pick the carrieban, or maybe a cruise ship...

That nothing. Try a intercontinental wedding. One family from Austrialia The other from the U.S. Now thats a headache,. For your sitiuation. Either way someone wont want to travel very far so find out whos willing to travel and go from there.

I dont know if you can have a traditional catholic wedding...youre already married! So it would just be a vow-renewal, or maybe they would be solomnizing your marriage...I dont know, but it might be different, especially since youre catholic...they tend to have strict rules about everything. So you should ask your church about that before you make it an issue with your husband.

I'm sorry, but this is just the beginning...and this is only about a wedding ceremony, just think of all the other important things the two of you will have to compromise on, kids, money, who to visit, who to live near etc....I do not envy you. Good Luck.

You are already married. Why not have a small reception in both places in order to meet the families?

Good luck!

Normally, it would be in the bride's hometown. However, you are married already! So there goes your idea - you can't have a "do-over" - your wedding was what it was, regardless of the circumstances. You could have a party, though.

I'd put it smack dab in the middle. That way no side will say "she pushed him into having a wedding on that coast" or "he pushed her into having it on that coast".

My husband and I are from different countries, so we chose a completely different location and made both families travel! Just give everyone plenty of notice.
