i have a bosch 110v drill model no: gsb 22-2re which currently has a keyless chuck is there any way of taking that chuck off and fitting an sds one i know you can get a converter that goes in the existing chuck but it makes it very long i would like for it to just be an sds drill.

As Valmiki said there is probably a screw at the bottom of the chuck, it will oppisite hand to a normal screw though.

By adding an SDS chuck, this won't make a SDS drill, the hammer action and clutch on a SDS drill work differently.

YOu can however by a Makita SDS drill for about £100 from most good tool merchants. I had one it lasted me for years with good maintenance.

This is good drill - .MAK(1)(2)HR2020-1 (Makita Professional Power Tools!) £89.00

You can take off your keyless chuck. If you open the chuck fully and look down inside it you will see the locking screw, it may be posidrive, of you may need an allen key.

Any good tool merchants (engineering supplies) can sell you an SDS chuck.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:-

If there's not locking bolt inside the chuck, then I must conclude that the drill is not reversable. Unless you have spanner flats somewhere on the chuck, then It will be nigh on impossible to get the chuck off.

In any case, it is correct to say that SDS drills are designed for lots of hammer action, and the mechanism will be good.

Your Bosch drill is only designed for occasional use of hammer action. If you use it too much on hammer action, it will fail.

i bought my sds drill from Argos for £30. about 9 months ago, as long as you keep them lubricated they will last just as long as any other sds drill. so maybe its easier to just buy one instead of taking your old one apart.
