Generally speaking a good quality puppy food is very good for feeding pregnant dogs. I'd let her eat as much as she wants towards the end of her pregnancy because often they don't have as much room and will nibble at their food the last few weeks.

HI! A good quality puppy food is good but you can also buy food just for pregnant dogs. I feed NUTRO puppy food for large breed dogs. Or just make sure it's for High energy dogs the protien is higher in that formula. But if your already feeding puppy food than that's fine.

Once she has whelped her pups then make sure she keeps getting the puppy food or high energy food and lots and lots of water.

Puppy Chow isn't bad, but Eukanuba is a very good brand. Lots of well known breeders use it...they have largebreed and smaller breed puppy formulas too so I'd use which ever one for your dog's size. Feed her that until they're fully weaned because what she eats ultimately goes to them which they need puppy of course. But I highly recommend to Eukanuba to anyone & everyone..it's not as cheap as puppy chow but that's for a reason. The more expensive foods pay off in the end you save in vet bills that you'd need for problems with cheap food. Cheap food lots of times causes skin allergies. I did feed Eukanuba to my dogs for awhile then switched to Innova Evo it's only found in Complete Petmart and Pet Supplies Plus. It's quiet expensive, but I pay for it because it's healthier and has the right amount of protein my dogs need.

During a pregnancy and after a pregnancy a dog loses ALOT of nutrients she would need. There are usually special dog food for pregnant or nursing dogs. Remember when she is pregnant what goes in her goes in her puppies.
