My cat threw up what looked to be a BIG hairball. I've never seen one so I'm not sure if it's normal. I know they have hairball food out. But he is only 8mths old and all the food say's to wait to take him off kitty food til he's a yr old. Is he ok? Is this just something cats do?

Most hairball treatments make it easier for the cat to bring them up instead of the hard coughing that is usually required. But as to size, it's easy for a cat to cough up a hairball as big and long if not more so than the turds they crap out the other end! But it has to come out, one end or the other. The best solutions are baths with shampoo designed for shedding cats and daily brushings!

Yes this is normal. He is ok. You can buy hairball remedy at the store to help with this. It does help. He might still throw up hairballs, But not as often. Another thing you can do is keep your cat brushed. That way he won't swallow that much fur when he cleans himself.

pretty normal...

You can give him a bath and then dry with a hair dryer and brush (not too hot). This will get rid of loose fur and stop him eating it. Took mine in the shower when he was young and he likes it now...although the hair dryer is still a challenge.

If he is dry hacking a lot that can be a sign of more problems for which he would need to get checked out.

it's normal, you can brush him more often and that will help with making the hairballs smaller you can also get a hairball formula food too.
