There are three main translations of the Quran into English. Let us compare how they translate Sura 4:89, dealing with how to treat the infidel:
YUSUFALI: They but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (from what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades, SEIZE THEM AND SLAY THEM wherever ye find them; and (in any case) take no friends or helpers from their ranks.
PICKTHAL: They long that ye should disbelieve even as they disbelieve, that ye may be upon a level (with them). So choose not friends from them till they forsake their homes in the way of Allah; if they turn back (to enmity) then TAKE THEM AND KILL THEM wherever ye find them, and choose no friend nor helper from among them.
SHAKIR: They desire that you should disbelieve as they have disbelieved, so that you might be (all) alike; therefore, take not from among them friends until they fly (their homes) in Allah's way; but if they turn back, then SEIZE THEM AND KILL THEM wherever you find them, and take not from among them a friend or a helper.
The comparison is most interesting. We must choose between seizing and killing the non-Muslim, taking and killing the non-Muslim, and seizing and slaying the non-Muslim.

Thousands. Each translation into each language is its own version. There's also a variety of choices as to which scriptures and books to include and exclude. Some bibles have over 70 books, some 66. Some have this or that verse removed, while others have different verses removed. Most don't include all the ancient texts, and do not have accurate versions of those texts. Addiitionally, many bibles are constantly edited. The King James Version had several scriptures edited as late as the 1990's because they where being used to reveal little know facts about the bible that made it difficult for mainstream protestantism to explain their beliefs. So, yeah, take your pick.
Additional comment for Asim to his statement "did u know Quran(holy book of islam) has only 1 version of it,," NONSENSE! There isn't any formalize version of the Quran which is accepted by all of Islam. There are as many variations of the Quran in use right now as Bible! Do your research before you make ridiculous comments like that.

It is not the number of version but the usage. Unfortunately, when a person finds a version that they are comfortable with, they justifies the selection above all others. I use a number of versions that can be found in http://www.biblegateway.com .
A more limited approach would be an Interlinear Bible (Hebrew to English and Greek to English). For this I use. http://www.all4scriptures.org . While the number of English bible versions may be large and growing, the number of original source texts are not.

Three that I know of. There's the King James version, the New International Version, and the St. Joseph version. There are probably more though.

Too many. Personally I like the New Living Bible and the New American Standard.

That is an answer that keeps changing. Each time a sect from a denomination of christianity splits off because they want to practice a sin and not be condemned to hell for it, they rewrite the bible to make their sins acceptable to God. I have even heard of a version now that condones homosexuality though I have not seen it myself.

It appears there are many versions of the Bible. However, close inspection of several reveals that with no exceptions, the outcome is the same.

too many i know of three off the top of my head...the king james version, which is most popular...the NIV...the new international version...and i think the Jahovah witness' have there own. but you know out of so many Bible's there is a lot of confusion to follow this way and that way. and to top it all off there is only one Quraan. one way to follow. one way too live. one easy lifestyle.

this war was not ment for modern times. i am Muslim and i'm familiar with the Bible. it's believed that this is the war of the book of Revelations. only God knows.

Just 1,assuming you want to know the truth how God thinks!It's called the KIngJames version.The other's were put out by satan thru religeous people confused in a fog of their own understanding,and made watered down bibles,that don't exactly say what God said! God said in revelation He would curse people who took from and added to His word! God also says similiar things in other parts of the bible!
