Is there a free site online maybe? I will be going there this summer for two weeks and meeting a few of my friends who live there, but their english is not very good. Haha. I would like to be able to speak to them and their parents in Italian, I thought it would be neat. Thanks for your help!

If you are going to Italy, you will be surprised at how quickly you begin to pick up on the language. Bring a small travel dictionary and have them help you.

That being said, I am sorry to say, there is NO quick and easy way to learn a new language. It takes years for poeple to master their native language. A local community college would be the best place to start. Yes, you need to enroll in classes. There may be some free ones offered in your area, too. The college would probably have information on this, too.

I hate to give this bad news, but please don't waste your money on the language programs. They don't work. Only practice and correction works.

Move over there for a year if you can afford it. Do not use any english just force your self to listen and speak no matter what Italian. Avoide English Speaking people and try to go 100% Italain speaking village.

I would recommend the Pimsleur language course which you can buy in any book store on CD. Also on line for free the website http://www.crelearning.com/lang.htm is a great free way to learn a few phrases online. It's relaxing too!

You don't have much time. There is a program that uses pictures and sounds to teach. It is very effective and most ESL schools have the program. It's called the Rosetta Stone. It will cost though. Good luck!
