I do no understand the purpose of religion.

religions are just beleifs. there is no truth to any of it.
if there was truth to religion, there would only be one religion
no one aruges to that 2&2=4 or that water freeze at 32F
so I think it is fine if people want to beleive in what ever they want.

Early man needed a moral code because there were no laws or governments.
A giant step for mankind was the concept of separate church and state. Religion is now less important than it once was.

It still serves as a way to build local communities and to extend charity outward. Unfortunately, it divides cultures and is the basis for major conflict.

Religion will only do mankind a true service if it somehow dictates acceptance of each other... unfortunately, few religions genuinely teach acceptance.

I believe it is a way to divide people. If all were to believe in only one the issue would then be which one. However if all were to believe in only one then al lot of world problems would be eliminated. along with all these discussions about every ones differences.

religion is the way humans try to understand what they are supposed to be doing to connect to god since we removed ourselves from the food chain.

i agree, too much fighting about it when in modern times, very few people are being hurt as a direct cause of another person's beliefs.

You must put on the sayings of Jesus, Buddha, or any other teacher to try them out in your own life.If they work, then they pass from beliefs to truth for you.
