It all boils down to this: Good manners shows respect and consideration for others. Bad manners doesn't.

I consider the height of bad manners to be 2 things; walking in my house with your shoes on or asking how much money my husband makes or how much I paid for something like my house or car.
My carpet is a very light beige and shows everything.
My husband has a good job and people in our area (small town) actually try to guess how much he makes when, after they've asked, I tell them what he does for a living.

Anything that is inconsiderate of others is bad manners to me. It takes very little time to hold a door for someone, for example. The whole "me first" attitude pretty much sums up what I think of as bad manners.

That's simple - not using please and thank you! I find that more and more people are less and less considerate and this simple gesture has been the first to go. I was at Costco this weekend and after I took a sample from one of the displays, I said thank you to the person dispensing the items. She looked shocked and said that was the first time she had been thanked and she has been doing the demos for 6 months. It's such a simple gesture that is so overlooked!

I work with a guy who'll ask personal questions. How much money I have in the bank, if I'm currently seeing anyone, if so he wants all the details! Not only is that intrusive, it's a coded request for a fat lip!

People who always assume they know more about something than you. "No this is the way it is." You may be a trained expert in the field of topic but they still know better. RUDE!!!

People who constantly interrupt when someone else is speaking are so frustrating to be around.

I notice that more men are belching out loud in public. It's disgusting.
