1) You're NOT FAT
2) You don't need to lose weight. You are still growing. If there are any "soft spots" on you its probably "baby fat"
3) It is actually unhealthy to be dieting at your age
Do not worry!!!

At 12 years old you really shouldn't be worrying about your weight yet.
Because of the Hormones rattling around inside you, your weight can change by 7lbs in a week!
Your height and weight do not make you overweight. Sometimes all you need to do is 'move' the weight and not re-move it!
Try exercising and concentrate on areas you want toned as well as areas you may want a little 'more'.
Your so-called Ideal Weight is simply a racial average and should not be taken seriously.
It is worked out by age, gender and things like that.
The only way to have an accurate measure is to have your Body Fat measured.
Even that doesn't tell you if you are overweight or not!
If you really want to lose by dieting then try taking smaller portions, less Bread, less dairy products. and remember to excercise (GENTLY don't overdo it!).
Mostly though.
Remember you are young and your looks will change for quite a few years yet.
Let them settle before going mad trying to change.

YOU are not fat! the best way to lose a few pounds is through exercise and cutting out high fat, Like butter, margarine, mayo and fried foods. Fruits and veggies are great to eat and can have alot ot them with out worrying about it. This will also help if yu have any acne. You are 12 and are probably going through puberty and almost eveyone has a few extra pounds on them at that age. Dont worry , if you exercise and cut out the fat and no soft drinks, like coke, pepsi, etc- you will see results. Exercise will also help you with any type of blues you may experience during puberty! Remember beauty is within, so stay sweet and caring and treat others as you would like to be treated and you will always be beautiful no matter if you weigh 118 or 280.

it doesn't sound to me like you are that overweight. but since you want to lose just a couple pounds and you have such a long time to do it, you only need to make small changes to your diet and exercising. try drinking water and sugar free tea between meals so you don't feel the need to snack. or if you do want to snack, eat fruits. also ask your parents to cook more veggies when they prepare dinner. when I was your age and wanted to lose a couple pounds I would run up and down the stairs a couple times a day. whatever you do, don't over do it at your age. your body is going through a lot of changes at this time and you may lose some weight without even trying. but above all, make sure you enjoy your time in florida no matter what your weight is!

As Oprah says, the ONLY way to lose weight is to cut calories and work it off. If you want to lose weight in a healthy way you should start exercising for anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour (aerobic exercise such as jogging, walking, swimming, dancing, etc.) everyday. Exercise is healthy for your heart and also by moving you burn excess fat and calories from your body. Finally, if you want to "tighten up" and become more toned, watching what you eat (such as not eating foods that have a high fat/sugar content) will help.
The *key* to weight loss is burning more calories per day than you take in. So if you want to lose the weight you have to exercise and eat less.
There are many ways people choose to lose weight but I think none is more healthy and more sure to work than this method.

Telling you not to try to lose weight won't work, so if you really feel you have to then do it sensibly as you're still a child,
eat more fruit/veg less snacks/chips/choc
try walking to places (safely) instead of maybe getting a lift - swimming is a good all over body tonner, but above all try to be happy the way you are - life's too short to worry about a few extra pounds..

Get your mum or family member to go with you to a slimming club. Where you can eat a healthy balanced diet but still have some treats. Dont try any silly fads. Just set yourself mini goals say a half stone at a time. Ive lost 3 stone but it took me 18 months plus i also exercise regulary. try walking and swimming and dont weight yourself constantly that will only make you worse. stay off full fat coke etc try drinking water . Its good for you and can make you feel full. Good luck xx

5 ft 1" and I am 118lbs seemingly fat...for you are only 5'1''...but not fat at all....do this...stop weighing yourself, I know 105 feels great at 5'1" and 118 does not feel so well...but do this...cut out the carbs in your diet like pasta and white flour, doughnuts, buiscuts, cruisants, cake, rice, chips, all these things store as fat. Eat fruit for breakfast, and for snacking, eat boiled eggs and salads for lunch, eat a nice evening meal as your last meal if you eat whole grains like oats at night you will process your food better and stop storing fat...do this...for your future is at stake...others will think your silly for 118 on a 5'1" frame looks pretty good compared to a whole lot of other frames in this world.
Your body is the temple of God, take care of it, exercise, dance, swim, walk, run, cycle, skate, ski....get outside shoot some hoops, jump some rope...get your heart-rate up about 15 min, about 2 or 3 times a day and you will be on your way to a healthier way of life. You are only 12, don't worry about it...go out and have fun...don't sit around too much unless you are studying.
It is important that you get lots of outdoor activities. You will feel better and just know that not being an adult is the most fun in any adults memory...enjoy being your age whatever that age is for you are only that age once. Run, jump, & play! Feel free to be 12 and stop worrying about your weight. Just eat healthy foods and not beyond the proper serving sizes and get up and move your body and get oxygen to your body and exercise your muscles don't forget to drink loads of water! Water flushes our bodies and helps prevent acne, and other problems later in life. So for you...eat healthy, drink water, and go outside and be active!

ah, 8st 6lbs is tiny!! and your 12 sweetheart, theres absolutely no need to start worrying about stuff like that at your age. 7st 7lbs maybe your ideal weight, but you are still a healthy weight for your height. im not going to suggest any type of diet for you (believe me, ive done them all, but i am 21 and have like 3 stone to lose, so im allowed) because you dont need to lose any weight!!

I checked through your answers, and honestly, theres nothing I can add, most of them are good, some are excellent, follow the advice given thus far, and you wont go wrong, just one reminder only, drink water till you feel more like a swimming pool, that works better than anything you could do, and remember why you gained a little extra in the first place, so it doesnt happen again, enjoy yourself, and play to your hearts content.
