Hi, I have 2 adults cats male 2 yrs, and female calico 4 yrs; recently inherited the family's other female calico 10; It's been about 1 week. the male is more curious. The 10 yr old, we keep seperate from the other cats for awhile, I know it takes about 2-3 weeks, especially being older. The older one actually took to the move quite nicely. It's just interacting with the cats. The screen door we can't do because we rent. do you have other suggestions. I cant give up because it's my husbands mothers cat she passed 2 weeks ago. Thank you for any ideas

my vet suggested a drop of perfume on all cats heads so they all smell alike and they will not be as freaked out. I tried and it worked for me

Just let them get to know each other under their own terms. There may be some posturing, screeching, yowling, hissing, and swatting, but they will get to know each other and where each stands on the feline totem pole.
We had to move in with our "kids" not too long ago for the winter months. Our two cats came with us. The "kids" also have two cats. It took some time and us not interfering, but all four are friends now. Our female still "baits" their younger cat, but I think it's all in fun.
Are all the cats neutered and spayed? That will make for a better all-around relationship with the cats.
Do you have a spare room you can keep the older cat in for a week or two, to allow her to aclimate herself to her new environment?
Don't worry, they will establish their own "pecking order" soon enough.
