I have just used Windows Vista Ultimate, this is the top Vista and cost approx £350.
Graphics are much better and the audio is very good to,it also has a lot of sucurity features.
It was enjoyable to use and the features are reasonably easy to find, especially when there are so many.
Windows Media Player 11 was usual, but there is also a Windows Media Centre which is a online service which accesses video and audio and also tv etc.
The downside is unless you have a high spec pc your gonna need alot to make Vista work properly.
My pc is 11mnths old and i would need over £150 of improvements to make the grade for the Vista program.
Also if you use older programs like Nero 6 reloaded they have compatability problems so you will need to get these renewed at your expense.
All in all a nice new program from Microsoft but XP with a few add-ons is just as good and a lot less hassle.
Few specs you need to run Vista:
minimum 1 gig ram
minimum 15gig spare hardrive
upto date 3d grahics card
Hope this answers the question,i for one will stick with XP,even though i have got Vista Ultra (at least for now)

Windows Vista is an Operating System from Microsoft that is the successor to Windows XP. Mostly improves on graphics ability, and builds in things that most people do now witrh mutimedia such as burning DVDs, backing up home movies, editing media and playing games. Really XP is fine the way it is and in my opinion this is just a way for Microsoft to increase their stockholders equity. Unfortunately there will be a ton of different versions to choose from, with different features. I think a Home and Professional edition shouls suffice, but there will be something like 6 different versions. Anyhow I would wait at least a year from launch before diving into Vista before they can get all the bugs worked out. Good Luck!

A clever way for Microsoft to look into some more revenue by adding a new moving wall paper and finding new ways for you to buy ram.
