Huskies are NOT horrible pets - unless you are not the right kind of family for them.

People who really do their research understand that it takes the right kind of owners/family to be able to keep up with a Husky.
Huskies need:
1. to be part of a pack (usually this means in a family with more than one dog)
2. not left alone often
3. good size fenced-in yard (6+ foot fence that can't be dug under)
4. good grooming weekly - and daily during the "blowing the coat" times
5. activities/exercise to burn up their nervous energy - they are bred to run and need daily work.
6. a patient owner who understands that they are stubborn and smart so it may take awhile for them to take to the owners training.
7. understanding that they are not guard dogs
8. toys and things to chew on, because they are very curious animals who need things to occupy them.

Huskies are great pets - and I love mine to death!
The first two years are hard - but that is the way with any dog who is very active and intelligent. After two years - the Husky becomes a whole different character of dog - and I wouldn't trade mine in for anything!!!!!
