If a person feels that they've heard the WORD of God...how could they truly tell from what source that ' message ' came from ?

If after hearing that 'message' the person felt brighter of soul, joyed, more Loving to themselfs and others, caring, patient, inspired, mind / soul felt more clear, more open of heart and Loving with God, Jesus Christ. . .

When asked that on this site reply would be "What would make them any more special ?" The words mental illness, schizophrenic (hearing 'voices') are replied in some answers.

When someone felt that they are hearing the Word of God how would one know that it is the True Word or of false source? That they feel joyed and more Loving with others and God or more sour and skeptical with the world...would that be the indicator ?

What if 'voices' heard were not literal voices as humans speak...but ' voice ' was one more like a ' message ' , hug or Loving ' whisper to your heart/soul ?

Difference between mental illness and True WORD ?

" lchtyic "... Yes, when people ' hear ' things some are audible as you said and other are not. Message ' heard ' more as a one of no sound was moreso...felt. ' Message ' heard ' as I described to be more of a hug, ' whisper or breath to the heart / soul. A ' heard ' " voice " of no sound. Odd to describe...yet you did described it as not being audible...language / voice only the soul can understand / hear.

If your spirit is spoken to by God, I believe that there would be a peaceful calm in your heart. I believe that you would feel lifted up and secure within those words, and would feel close to Him. People with mental illnesses, a lot of times aren't at peace with the voices and things that they hear. Sometimes these voices can tell them to do harmful things and maybe even endanger the lives of others. These are not the kind of words and thoughts that God would speak to you. God gives you things of hope and of peace and life, and if you feel comfortable and close to Him when you feel He is speaking to your heart, then I don't think you have any kind of mental illness. :)

Good question, easy answer. As the bible says, "my sheep know my voice". I could spend all day on here debating and trying to tell you have, but the fact of the matter there is nothing more true than the statement i put in parenthesis. So not only can you hear him, remember the bible is God's word as well.

Also, you say "Difference between mental illness and True WORD"

My question to you is why does the opposite have to be mental illness? Satan's only power is the power is suggestion. Satan will exploit every opportunity given to him to suggest anything against what is true. The mental illness part is believing the crazy stuff Satan suggests to us. Hence, thats why the bible is God's word for us to use to help differentiate between the two. Believe it or not, it will soon be easy to know the difference. I can tell you all about it, but you will have go find it for yourself.

First of all, if the "message" tells you to harm yourself or someone else, it is not from God.

You don't literally "hear" the voice of God. It seems more as if a thought came into your head; but the "thought" comes from God and not your own brain. If the message is theologically sound and is an insight that you would not have come up with on your own, it is probably from God.

If you literally hear voices that aren't really therethen you are probably mentally ill.

Because it w ould glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and it would only have come from the HolySpirit speaking thru someone, and actually speaking Himself,if it isn't the Lord Jesus Himself speaking to them! Also, the Holy Spirit never contradicts the bible which He wrote thru the diciples and apostles! Aperson with mental problems usually have erratic minds, but when theres a revelation from heaven, there is a quickening of the mind to greater awareness of God' choice's for that person.Have a good day!

Exactly what Master J said. And some people do get audible messeges from god. Of couse some oof the people that claim to "hear god" end up being cult leaders. But Mary K. Baxter, who wrote the book "A Divine Revalation of Hell", Jesus Christ came to here cause of here close intimate relationship with god, to take her into hell and show her the horrors of hell so that the whole world would read about it, repent of their sins and execpt Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Jesus took here each night for 40nights to show her the different parts of hell. He revealed to her the horrors of hell and the glories of heaven. I recommend this book to all believer. And I also recommend this book to alll nonbelievers so that their souls may be saved. God does appear to people.

Science just can't cope with alternate states of consciousness being equally valid. There is no difference between mental illness and hearing the Voice of God because the mind's activity is a gradient, not a series of absolutes. That's where I'm coming from.

How does one discerns Gods voice from any other?
If its from God then you need to pray and ask and say
(in your heart) speak lord Jesus your servent is listening
what do you want to say? If he speaks his message will be consistent and a definite message to make your life purposeful and meaningful and give a direction. Then say help me find what you say in the bible (use the New King james version easy version) If he speaks you will be guided and you will find the message in the bible. ( more than one place) then you are confirmed.

God bless

I can't imagine there is any way to discern the difference. God, if she exists, is not a measurable entity, right? So you couldn't test messages from her...
I would say, that if someone who thinks they talk to God and God talks back is passing on messages that are full of goodwill, peace, love, harmony, etc, then right on. Keep letting them they think they talk to God; it's obviously doing someone some good.

However, if someone thinks they are getting messages telling them to say, blow up a building, hate a certain group of people, general bad intent, hate, evil actions, etcetcetc, then the person is obviously unstable and needs to be watched closely. How could some God who is supposedly all-loving, etc, be telling someone to hate or destroy?

Compare it to what the Bible says, and if the message is truth you can say it came from God. God does not speak in an audible voice.

we all experience something happens in our mind or heart without expectation.

I believe we die without knowing ourselves fully.

we all in a sesnse prgrammed . we can love ,hate ,eat drink, make love without being taugT

I see the winter trees in a cold evening dust ,I feel the beauty I didnt learn how to feel beauty , but i feel.

I v never heard of gods words , but I guess it is something like this.It doesnt need education nor prctice.

somebody just hears it. and he knows where it comes from.

I cant deny its exisitence, because like I said we cant know all.

the difference between mental illness and true word is ,I guess, where the meaning of words lie , if the meaning goes for love and peace I think it can be true words.
