My boyfriend always eats meats a week aafter the poll date. I know he sometimes gets the runs, but I don't want to contract anything from him.

If the bacteria is on the meat, and the meat was not cooked thoroughly or if it was stored in a ontainer that had the bacteria, then it could cause disease.
The germs have to be there to cause disease. There is cross contamination if the germs came into the kitchen and surfaces were not clean. Many people get the runs from being allergic to certain foods.
Wash well, have him wash well, but if food is kept and cooked properly disease is not spread.

he can pass Salmonella and E-Coli to you if he doesn't wash properly.
