rapid weight loss or weight GAIN. A good way to prevent that problem is to moisturize daily and vigourously. Poor circulation is a huge factor in stretch mark production Taking vitamin E improves your blood circulation; B vitamins are also good for your blood. All people are usually vitamin E deficient, which is why MOST people get stretch marks.

Stretch marks are caused by the skin not having enough elasticity in it. My Dr. once told me when I was pregnant with my first child your skin either has it or it doesn't if it doesn't you will get stretch marks.

Gaining weight too fast and then losing the weight, the skin gets stretched tight, doesn't have time to generate more skin to accommodate the weight gain. Then when you lose it, the stretch marks are more like scar tissue than skin.
