Some of the famous name brands have alcohol or an alcohol derivatives in them. be sure you are buying a product that heals and doesn't dry out out more. You get addicted to these products and keep buying them. There are several good ones on the market. Mary Kay makes a lip balm with vitamin A&E it is a bit more expensvie in the long run you use less and heal your lips. Also you want to exfoliate the dead skin. You can't water a dead plant same goes for you lips use a mask product or put some Vaseline and gently brush with an old tooth brush to get rid the dead skin.

Hello,
I suffer from the same problem you do except mine is probably a little more severe. I get rough dry, cracked, and unsmooth lips and then it started to form below my bottom lip. DO NOT USE CARMEX!!! It just irritates you lips. I couldn't find anything that worked until I went to the medicated lip stuff isle and found something by the brand Chapstick. It is in a little blue tube and it says Chapstick Medicated. My lips were back to normal in 24 hours. If you have it forming underneath your lips like I did, go to walgreens and get this tube of ointment called Hydrocortisone cream and squirt a small amount under your lips.

I love blistex. It is kind of mentholish, but it really works. They sell it in a small tub like carmex, but it is much smoother than carmex.
