Introduction to Kansas City
By FROMMER'S
Established as a trading post in 1821, Kansas City served as the starting point for wagon trains heading over the Santa Fe, California, and Oregon trails and later emerged as the nation's center for cattle stockyards and slaughterhouses. Today, greater Kansas City is a sprawling metropolis of 1.8 million straddling the Kansas-Missouri state line. Yet it retains something of a small-town atmosphere, with tree-lined boulevards and a large number of parks spread over gently rolling hills. Need further incentive to visit? Kansas City is famous for its steaks, barbecue, jazz, rich frontier history, and unique attractions.

take a bus to LA or San Fran, or hitch hike, what ever it takes to get to SFO or LAX then have your flight booked several weeks in advance, like the other writers have all agreed China Air is the lowest priced but they seem to have the worst track record for safety, UP to You! You'll be flying to BKK and can expect to spend at least 800 bucks RT just to get to Bangkok. Once there you can catch a bus to get around and save some money. Plan on spending 1,000 bucks and get it over with forget the bus trip to west coast.

In the states there are courrier companies. I think one is called aircourrier, not sure. How it works is that you are responsible for taking a small package or envelope to another destination, say Kansas City to Bangkok, and for that the airfare is extremely low. The downside is that you are only allowed a carry on for luggage.

common sense would say you needed to fly. since your online why not look at travel web sites for best prices, why ask anyone here, we can't issue you a ticket. but as someone else said you can always walk and swim, but that doesn't make much sense, does it?
