You need to call a vet NOW, this dog could die from obstruction or possible torsion or choke to death if he brings it partway up and gets it stuck. Trying to vomit and not producing anything is a very bad sign. Please call a vet.

You should bring him to the vet for a check-up. It happened to my dog too but nothing serious happened to him.
