You might find this a useful link for fishing Kansas. It has reports for 14 lakes in S.E. Kansas. Apparently the crappie fishing is good now at Lacygne Reservoir.

When the water starts to warm up to around 55 degrees. April, May depending on the weather. Look for early season fish in shallow dark bottom bays.

i from denver colorado and i alwase go out to kansas for crappie fish. there are alot of crappie out there and alot of big ones. i alwase of out there around march through april that when they are breeding and they are realy active. i like to use minnows and yellow jigs. I think the limit out there is 50 a day.
