It is impossible to be a good Christian and not have the gift of prophecy, since the literal meaning of this is to "proclaim the word of God."

In order to have the gift of prophecy you must be a true christian.
It is one of the gifts.
Not many get this gift.
There are two prophesy, and prophecy.
One is for preaching and the other for tells what is to come.
The book of 1 cor. tells of the gifts.
1 cor. 12,13, and 14 tell of them.
You don't hear of this gift in operation very much.
Tongues is the one you hear a lot about.

Littlemis,
In the New Testament God says He gives gifts such as speaking in tounges, interpetating tounges, discernment, prophecy and etc.
God appointed prophets in the Old Testament. Don't you remember Isaiah, Ezekeiel, Daniel they were all prophets. However they only spoke what GOD had given them to speak.
