I had a couple of personal emails from people whose dogs got sick recently from eating Beneful dog food. Beneful says that the food tested did not contain any presense of aflatoxins but, I am still getting reports of sick dogs that eat Beneful.

Anyone else out there with dogs that have gotten sick recently and are fed Beneful? Please let me know. I want to follow-up on this.

I posted a question on this about 3-4 weeks ago, it had all the details on how to contact a group if your dog is sick. You may want to contact those folks and maybe they can give you some more info, I personally do not feed beneful, or any other supermarket type foods, but I always look at whatever I am feeding my pup to make sure it does not look or smell wierd. there was one lady in the story i posted who said she noticed a "Tan mold" on the food but still fed it.....not a smart call in my opinion. Anyway here is my post if you would like to look it over and get the phone number/email.

There are a number of reasons a dog could get sick from a food that really don't have anything to do with the food itself. I wouldn't feed my dog Beneful anyway because it's full of fillers and has a red dye in it that has been outlawed for human consumption, but even so, the reason could be that owners did not switch the food gradually (which upsets stomachs) or that the dog was allergic to something in the food such as wheat gluten (common in Westies). I worked at a pet store all last year and didn't hear a lot of reports of dogs getting sick off of Beneful. It is a top seller, so unless this is a recent scare, I'm not sure it's something serious.

You won't know that until your dog dies of cancer...It's incredibly hard to track down every single dog and say, "This dog died. He was fed Beneful. The dog died from eating Beneful." IMy friend had a dog who refused to eat kibble. She fed him homecooked. She met up with another dog of the litter who ate Beneful. Homecooked lived for 15 years, while Beneful only lived for 10. Makes you wonder whats in that food.

Doesn't suprise me, Beneful is full of inferior ingredients, dyes, and cancer causing preservatives. Who wouldn't have some sort of problem after eating that day in and day out.

Being as though it is a junky food, I'm not surprised that they got sick off of it, even without the toxins in the corn.
