I can't stand it anymore!

My eyes feel so sandy and itchy. It's just the area around my eyes. It just feels so dry. Eye drops didn't help. I used the plain saline drops, not the ones for allergies since those tend to dry out the eye. I tried Benedryl for the itching but it seemed to make things worse, plus Benedryl always makes me hyper, not sleepy (weird, I know). My eyes are not bloodshot and they don't hurt, weep or tear. I don't wear contacts, I wear glasses. I'm on the computer a lot, but I take several breaks so as not to strain my eyes. I put some hypoallergenic fragrance-free moisturizer around my eyes but that only helped for an hour or two. It's like I just can't leave them alone because of the severe itching. The part around my eyes is pretty red from rubbing on them. I have a humidifier in my room because I thought that would help. Nothing's working!!! Help!

My daughter get's that every year in early spring.

We don't use normal eye drops.

We buy the "Similasan" homeopathic eyes drops that are for pink eye relief.

She never had pink eye, but the itching and the inflamation is relieved with the use of these drops.

Plus I make sure she washes her hands a lot, especially after being outside.

I think it might be pollen related. She has some strong allergies.

So I make sure she washed to get it off her hands when she comes inside.

Twice a day I have her take a warm wash rag to her eyes too clean them well before we put more drops in.

If there is anything in her eyes I want it rinsed before I added more drops.

After just one treament her eyes feel better.

But she normally has this every spring for about 2-3 weeks.

Best of luck to you!

Take care!

It sounds like allergies to me. Do some dusting and also get a air filtration machine and let it run continuously. You probably need to go have your eyes looked at to be on the safe side. You want to be sure you haven't scratched the eye with some foreign object or substance, the doc will probably prescribe some eyedrops. I have almost the same trouble w/mine. It's maddening and I hope this helps. G.

If this is something relatively new, it sounds like allergies. I get itchy eyes from allergies sometimes, its very annoying. Your doctor is probably your best resource on this.

You need an antihistamine tablet and probably some steroid drops, see a doctor.

you probably have pink eye. if you have excessive eye gunk forming then it is definitely pink eye. Go to the doctor and get some wash for it. be careful touching other people or things becuase it is really contagious.
