some countries i have been to (in caribbean) serve a straw in the bottle/glass of beer when they serve to a woman. the man would not get a straw. Why is this? Is it a conspiracy by the bar staff to get the woman drunk?
Which other countries does this happen?
as an afterthought, why do they also serve you icecubes......?

its all down to the notion of women being classy and not drinking from bottle, but it may also be a conspiricy to get you drunk to get thier wicked way with you. All i say is dont get sucked into it and take the straw out.
on the second part about the ice, its a cardinal sin to dilute beer in uk, but in the tropics they sacrifice that for an ice cold beer. that is also found by putting the beer in the freezer so you get a beer-cicle

Straw will get you drunker faster, but also a notion of being dainty, and not swilling from a bottle, or messing up the lip stick or getting the lipstick off of the bar ware - that stuff stains!

It's more feminine to sip out of a straw then to chug down a bottle. It's all about how it looks.
Like, it wouldn't be attractive if you saw a woman scratch "down there" but when you see a man do it, it's almost expected.
