My cousins are coming over soon, and it's snowing really hard outside. What should I make to help warm them up? Cocoa, brownies, cookies, biscuits??? Please give me some ideas, and also include the recipe! Thanks!

strawberry dumplings..sounds strange but it is a childhood favorite for me. heres the recipe:

2 bags of frozen strawberries unsweetened
1/3 cup water
1 frozen package of dumplings, unless you know how to make them, i dont
1 1/2 cups of sugar, add more to taste when done if you need it
its so easy-
put the thawed fruit in a large pot and cook on medium w/the water
cook until its stewed looking- kinda looks like a pancake topping
then add the dumplings, there will be a good bit of juice from the berries to cook the dumplings
ummmmm so good by itself or on ice cream- or snow cream!

How about soup, stew or chili. All are great for a snowy day. That's what we live on in the winter since we live in an area that is covered in snow from Dec. to Apr. Also, have some hot cocoa to greet them with. I agree with the earlier suggestion to check allrecipes.com....It is a great resource. I only make recipes that receive 4 or 5 stars, and everything turns out great. This is a great recipe for chicken tortilla soup:

And this is an Excellent Italian wedding soup:

Beef stew would be great, as would a traditional chili. Just look and see what you can find that sounds good.

Well, until you said your cousins were coming over, I was going to suggest LOVE... but now...
Hot bread pudding? you only need bread 3 to 4 cups, torn into small pieces
milk 4 cups
butter 4 Tbls
eggs 2
sugar 1/2 cup
vanilla 1 tsp
cinnamon 1/2 to 1tsp
and raisins 1cup
Mix it in the order given
woops add the bread just before the raisins
bake 350 degrees 45 to 60 min. Test for done> insert a knife into center, if it comes out clean, it is done.
serve warm ,with or without milk over it.

Or any home made soup if you have the time and ingredients...my favorite from childhood is Beans and Ham with hot corn bread. Made with great white northern beans, an onion and a big Ham hock . If you have ime soak the beans in hot water for a few hours (helps with the gas issue, shortens cooking time) I like to use a pressure cooker, put everything in add salt and pepper bring up to pressure and cook 45 to 60 min. Can be boiled stove top till beans tender. I cheat and use a box corn bread. Jiffy makes a good one. (try putting the bread in bowl, cover with the soup.
comfort food yum yum

Tomato soup and grilledcheese sandwiches.
And for a fun dessert you can make some snow ice cream.

INGREDIENTS:
1-3 C. snow (make sure it's clean!)
1/2 C. whipping cream or other cream of choice
1 T. sugar
2-3 drops vanilla flavoring
PREPARATION:
In a separate bowl, mix cream, sugar and vanilla. Slowly add snow to desired consistency. Eat (slowly--it's cold) and enjoy!
All ingredients can be adjusted to suit your particular preferences.

You might want to try some other flavorings: cinnamon, butterscotch, almond, or eggnog mix.

Any nice thick soup, like potato or corn chowder or chili. Bake up some cornbread and that's a nice hot filling meal for dreary cold days.

Hot Apple Cider is decently yummy, and a fun unique recipe is a hot banana split! Instead of using a grill etc.. Use your oven instead. Here's the recipe: http://www.chuckwagondiner.com/recipes.php?id=517&cat_id=5

What a fun thing to do.

Rice Krispie Treats ALWAYS remind me of snow (that tastes like the clouds are made of cotton candy).
