Last Tuesday would be my boyfriends third epileptic seizure since he was 23.The last time he had a seizure he wasn’t taking his meds the proper way...he would skip a few days here and there and then recently he had an attack due to not taking his meds because of having no health insurance...it seems as if his epileptic seizures are controlled when on the meds but whenever he messes up and doesn’t take it that’s when he goes into attack...My question is would he be considered a controllable epileptic because he is able to control his seizures when he is taking his meds???

Seizures can be controlled with medication and when medication levels get low you can go into a seizure. It is not to say just because you take medication you will never have a seizure but it is fair to say they can be controlled if taken regularly as prescribed. I hope your boyfriend doesn't drive because he is not only risking his life but the life of others when not taking the medication. Seizures can start at anytime, anywhere, anyplace without warning and it would be unfair if he were driving when one occured. Please advise him to take his medication at all cost. Not having insurance is no excuse. See if there is a free health clinic in your area that can help him with his medication. Seizures can be dangerous depending on the type he has.
Good Luck.
