I find the whole missionary concept to be an insult to most cultures and beliefs. What give these self-righteous individuals the right to interject their fears and phobias on cultures that have done just fine without their "help"? American history is rampent with good intentioned missionaries trying to convert the Native Americans to a belief system that was so foreign to them they could not comprehend. The missionaries brought not only "the word of God" to these people but also illnesses that devastated tribes. The missionaries, all well-meaning, took children from their families and forced them to abandon their language, culture, and (gasp) religions. The damage done all over the world by these righteous folks changed the political and social map of the world, almost always for the worse. I have had several Jehovah Witnesses and Mormon missionaries come to my door. And almost without fail, they know nothing about other religions and can not have a meaningful dialog about belief without falling back on the party lines. You can not justify your holy book by using your holy book to justify it. If you are hell bent to convert the world, you need to look at your own house and make sure it's in order before you find fault with others.

yup, already am. If you are a Christian, you should be too. You should be taking the good news where ever you go, work,shopping,sporting events, etc,etc. The world is our mission field.

We should care about even strangers who are one breath away from hell. Lets rescue as many as we can!

Remember 911 and how the fire fighters finally got the honor they deserve for running to rescue strangers. We will someday stand before God and He will give honor for our taking on the mission of rescuing the lost who would otherwise end up in hell.
