My mom's parakeet used to do this. They are showing off, asking for attention and flattery. Try making a fuss, calling it "pretty bird!" It will do it even more. Cur=te!

as much as all the others are good answers, there is one thing they left out. Keets puff up to keep warm while they are resting. They will usually puff before they take a nap, and after they take a nap. Its like a built in down blanket. :) They will stretch their wings and legs also. Its kinda like humans when we get out of bed in the morning. Its their way of settling in, to rest, or waking up. It may be that they are resting and when you come in, you are disturbing their sleep....hence, they stretch :)

my bird did that.
and after all of study i concluded that everytime i came in to the room or area. i would sort of wake the bird up and it would stretch out and big a little yawn and look up and start being chirpy and ask for food.

if she is puffing up her feathers and trying to look bigger, that means she is scared and trying to be scary back. If she is just stretching her wings, she is showing off for you and showing you that she trusts you. No worries.

It probably either wants to get out and fly or something, or its just showing off its adorableness.
