Hello... I'm really sorry for what happened to your father. It must be very difficult for him and your family. But I think he is very lucky to have a caring family, like you. :)

It sounds like your father's condition is quite critical. There is a time when the doctor has to decide whether chemotherapy is going to be good or bad for him. Apparently, the doctor has decided that chemotherapy is going to make him worse. (Remember that chemotherapy can be bad as it kills both cancer cells and the normal cells too).

Right now, the best thing to do for your father is to improve his quality of life. Make sure he is comfortable and as much as possible, let him do as he please. It is not easy to make a cancer patient eat as the illness takes away their appetite. Perhaps, as the effects of his 1st cycle of chemotherapy wears off, his appetite may return. Ask him what he wants to eat.. his favourite food maybe? Keep trying... but never give up.

Next, let him feel the love from his family. Let him know how much his family loves him. Spend time with him. Take him out for a stroll or a family get-together. Make his time in this world worthwhile... knowing that he is surrounded by people whom he loves.

I wish all the best for your father and your family.

i know swallowing food is not easy the way he is right now my husband has mouth cancer and cannot eat with his mouth there is a trick to this but it does work take food that is cooked very well and is tender put it in a blender along with a vitamin it will help him gain weight as far as the chemo what was it doing to him making him sick? if so there is meds they can give him to take care of that.you can take any food that he likes and put it in a blender and make liquid out of it so he can eat it i have done hamburgers ,beans, cornbread, gravy and biscuit ,cookies and milk you can do it all the surgery did they get all of the cancer if so his chances might be a little without chemo and radiation you should have a pet scan and a ct done to see if there is more cancer cells left that is a test that will show up cancer cells and it dosent hurt at all if his weight get to low they will put in a feeding tube in him and i dont think he will like that at all tell him he needs to think about his family if you need to talk more send me an email
