Can't say that I've tried that cake, but it did remind me of an amaretto recipe that makes a good gift.
makes 1 gallon need to sample a lot also , so that it tastes just right!
4 cups water...(what the??)
5 cups sugar
1 cup white Karo syrup
1/2 gal. vodka
2oz. almond extract (add more to taste)
1 fifth bottle of apricot brandy (not 1/5 of one bottle..you know)
Heat water, add sugar and karo.
Stir till sugar is dissolved (about 1 to 2 min)
Cool to room temp.( this is a must..or the alcohol will evaporate)
add the rest of the ingredients.
Ready to Drink!!
