I'm on the birth control Yasmin in hopes of helping my skin, by balancing my hormones. And it has...somewhat. I've had these same pimples on either side of my chin, just below my lips for like a month. I regularly (twice daily) wash my face using Clinique soap, and then I put moisturizer on my face to keep it from drying with the cold weather. I had been using benzoyl peroxide, but it just kept drying up my skin...and it makes my skin itchy sometimes. I have really sensitive, fair skin, which is very prone to burning. What should I use for my mild acne on my chin, as this seems to be a favorite spot for my blemishes? Would salicylic acid work better? If not, what other treatments should I use?

*Again...please don't recommend Proactiv, it's too expensive and it becomes useless over time. It's really a waste of money.*

I had the same problem as you with the benzoyl peroxide, looked like I'd had an allergic reaction. Salicylic acid DOES work much better for me, and isn't anywhere near as harsh.

To keep my pimples at bay, I wash my face with the Equate version of Neutrogena's Oil-Free Acne Wash (works just as well as Neutrogena, but it's cheaper), and moisturize with Clean and Clear's Oil-Free Dual Action Moisturizer, which contains a salicylic acid acne medication.

if its just in a concentrated area, i would definitely consider Clean and Clear Acne Overnight Spot Treatment. It may sting, and it does dry out the skin a bit- but its doing so in order to dry out the pimples. I think it would definitely work for you and if you moisturize consistantly afterwards it would still work.

I know you consider Proactiv expensive. Have you considered looking into Acne Free? I bought it at Target and its only 20 bucks for what Proactiv charges 50 for. It has worked better for me than Proactiv as well. Theres another option

You've absolutely got to try L'Bri Pure n' Natural skin care. It does not contain oil and drying alcohols, but instead aloe, vitamins, minerals, herbs and botanicals. Because there are no fillers or oils in these products, the aloe is able to penetrate deep into the skin, clean out the pores, take all the good ingredients with it down to the second and third layer of skin where all the damage starts, and heal your skin from the inside out. Ingredients are what good skin care is all about! Give it a try, it's 100% guaranteed. Check it out at suenelson.lbri.com.

Right now my skin is perfectly clear, for the first time in 3 years. It's been about 9 weeks and all my acne is gone. It is such a great feeling to wake up with clear skin.

It sounds like your pores are clogged.(like mine were). Keep using the benzoyl peroxide. It may dry out your skin, but that's good because the oil will be realeased from your pores. And skip the moisturizer whenever you can because that just clogs your pores right back up.

I know proactiv doesnt work on many people. It works for the first, like, 6 weeks, and then your skin gets so used to it that it feels like you are just applying water to it.

Good luck!!!

yeah i agree proactive becomes usless, it dries up your skin then stops working.[i tried it before] what i use to clear up pimples is this stuff called "sea breeze" is a blue liquid in a clear bottle. neutrogena makes one too called Oil-Controlling astringent. the main ingredent is salicylic acid. and it dries up pimples. i have mild acen as well. heres my daily routine.
1. use the sephora face wash called murad
2. use an astrigent [see below]
3. wait about 3-5 minutes, then put an oil free lotion on[i use the sephora murad one]
every once in a while what works good to is i put my face wash o, and then use a steamer to get the wash really in my pores, wash it off with warm water, the pop and pimples i have[, they go away faster if you pop them, think about what they do when you get a facial.]
and thats all, and when i do that religiously my skin clears!

I use a really simple mask of plain yogurt every day. 30 minutes to dry and rinse off (no cloth if open sores). Then I use an aloe vera or vitamin e lotion. The mask won't dry skin, but the acidophilus somehow clears up skin FAST! Good luck!

tea tree oil. wash your face, then put some tea tree oil on a cotton pad and apply it where you have acne. i do it at night and thats enough for me, but you could do it in the morning also and just apply whatever you wear over it (give it a second to dry though or you'll just rub it off). also, ask about estrostep for birth control. its made specifically for girls who want to get rid of acne (it works as birth control too though, obviously). i went on it for a problem with my ovaries and i didn't have a huge acne problem, maybe 2 or 3 pimples a month, but i probably had about one pimple the whole 2 years i was on it.
