In my opinion, go to USA Boxing.com there they will have a list of gyms in your State and town that belong to the amateur governing body and join, you'll have to spend $25 for your boxing passport, you'll have to get two passport size photos of yourself and depending on your age possibly a physical and that's basically it. The gym should have a representative that stops by the gym or applications already there. Your passport will be sent to in the mail with you validation sticker posted inside

Make sure that you get the best training available to you. Don't rush getting into the ring, that will come with time. Always listen to your trainer. Always fight in USA Boxing sanctioned bouts.

Good luck to you. Thanks for the question

Go down to the local gym, put on some gloves and step into the ring with a few of the local gym rats. If you still are interested the next day, contact your state athletic commission and and get the necessary information to take the next step.

If you are interested in eventually competing, you will do best to find a gym and a trainer who knows Olympic-style boxing techniques. Yes, you will need to join USA Boxing and the membership fees differ area to area. Most Registration Chairs want you to get your passbook in person the first time so citizenship and birth date can be verified with a birth certificate, passport or green card. You will need two head-shot pictures. If you would like a referral to a contact in your area, please email me at mel@amateurboxing.com and I'll send you a referral. Be sure to mention what city and state you live in. The USA Boxing website's registration information is not up to date or accurate.

You need to join your local boxing club.

Most cities and medium size towns have them.

If you don't know if your town has one, or where they train, the easiest way is to call or e-mail your local papers sports editor and ask.
