I feel better when I actively do something to change my situation or someone elses. I have prayed before...I don't know if I received any specific spriitual kick from it. Some do, I just never have.

My father is a "born again" evangelical. Never exactly been sure what the term "born again" means, but that's a ponderance for another time. He believes in the infalability of the Bible and believes that if he didn't get a certain job or a raise at work, that was God's will. Even if he didn't buy the onion, the reason he even entered the grocery store in the first place, that too was God's will.

In my opinion, we need to be accountable. My father didn't get the job because he made no attempt to get the job. He didn't get a raise because he didn't try hard enough at work. He didn't buy the onion becuase, he just didn't buy the onion. I think humanity has got to quit using God as an excuse for everything. Sometimesm things jsut happen..with no rhyme or reasons. Luck of the draw..wrong place, right time and vice versa.

If people find a spiritual connection between themselves and God or the Universe ( whatever you choose to call it), fine--I think that's great. We need all the comfort we can find. But I feel we should pray pro-actively. I don't think we should ask God for a great job. I think we should ask God to give us the strength, courage and tenacity to go out there and FIND a great job. We have to take responsibility for our own actions and deeds....both good and bad.

If getting into the Kingdom of Heaven is up to us...that we gain entre by living in accordance to the word of God, then shouldn't the same apply to getting a new gig?????

I feel better because I've vented and said what I need to say. I know God hears me. Here is something to think about. One day, I noticed that my tire had gone completely flat. Snow in this area doesn't usually fall until the very end of December or the beginning of January. I decided I would go in the next day to get the tire fixed, and prayed that I would make it since I didn't have any help at the time and could easily damage the chassis. I think that's what it is. Whatever is part of the tire. This was the end of November. I prayed I would be safe and that everything would work out. That night it started to snow, and the next morning there was a good blanket. I was able to use that to drive carefully for 20 miles to the tire center. It was like a padding. When I got there, they were very amazed because the tire was still on the whatchamacallit and nothing was damaged. They replaced the tire and I was on my way.

That is one major reason why I believe, because my prayers are almost always answered. So God either hears me, or I have a very powerful way of influencing others and things with my mind. (Yeah right, lol!)

Yes, I feel more connected to God when I'm praying then at any other point during the day. When you're praying it's just Him and you, with no distractions from the outside world. It's a special time; a time when His love really shines and I feel peace.

yes, it helps me remember what i should truly be working toward in my life, and gives me a chance to re-focus my energies on those things that are so important yet get pushed to the back of mind so easlily, to be replaced by laundry and car payments. praying is the way i remind myself myself that i need to make room for the practical and the spiritual.

Prayer gives me a sence of peace and security that I know can only come from God. It drives out all other things on my mind and allows me to focus on what is most important in my life.

Yes, I feel more relaxed and able to handle the routine (and not so routine) stresses of life. It reminds me of where my priorities should be, and that I am not alone.

I do. It's nice for me to articulate my wants and needs, whether they be tangible or ethereal, in my thoughts and in my deeds, in the capillaries or the arteriole.
