You might have iron deficiency. B vitamin and iron supplements would be a good idea. Eat food like dried prunes and apricots, oats and green leafy veg.
Prunes and apricots: they should be organic (non-organic have added sulphur).
Use "volumising" shampoos and conditioners; I recommend John Frieda (visit http://www.johnfrieda.co.uk/, choose your hair colour and they'll ask you some questions about your hair and will then recommend which products to use).
You can also add some volume to your hair by putting medium/large velcro rollers in your hair after washing, then let dry naturally or blow-dry on low setting.

If your hair is falling out then see a doctor quickly, in case you have the onset of alopecia. If, however, you are just seeing lots of stray hairs in the bathtub when you shower then don't worry - dark hair shows up more and you lose lots of hairs every day.
So if it is not a medical problem, then it is more of a style problem. You cannot thicken hair with vitamins - sorry, but that's a fact. Iron and Vitamin B will increase your general wellbeing but you will not have thicker hair. You get what you were born with! Cruel but true! So you have to think about the cut of your hair and, for that, I would see a good hairdresser and ask her advice. A good cut makes a world of difference, believe me. The way in which you dry your hair can make it look more bouncy, and a thickening mousse that you work in to the hair can add some apparent thickness.
See your doctor first to discount any medical problem. Then see a hairdresser. In that order.
Good luck.

If your hair is falling out a lot, it can be due to any of the following :
1. Iron deficiency....go get a blood test
2. Thyroid problem.....again you need a blood test
3. Using hot tongs, straighteners and hairdryers too frequently
4. Always having your hair tied up.
After having made sure it is none of the above, go to a hairdresser....a reputable one and they will style and cut it so it doesn't look too thin. They will also give you good advise on the best hair products to use too.
Hope that helps

Yes i have the same problem, it drives me mad!!!! If you have a natural wave/curl to your hair, try scrunching some mousse in and let it dry naturally. I do this and my hair looks so much thicker.
but i do love my hair super straight too, i use volumising shampoos and conditioners, and a spray called 'System 21 hair solutions' for coloured hair. It's an intesive formula which repairs and protects the hair, but it also gives your hair so much more body, it really works!!!
I got it from the salon which i get my hair cut in, so I would of thought you could get it from pretty much any hairdressers.
Hope this helps
