Yes, this was bias. We know that this was wrong. No one is stoned anymore for not being a virgin. There were many things done in those days we no longer do. We also no longer have slaves, public hangings, forced marriages, polygamy....the list goes on.

Well, maybe it even could be better to die a martir's death rather than live with an *** that doesn't really love and just cares whether you were a virgin...
PS: The first answer, you didn't really read the Bible, did you? In New Testament it tells avoid fornicaiton (or sexual promiscuity). It refers to both men and women.

You seem to have a bee in your bonnet about this. If you really are concerned try contacting one of the groups fighting for womens rights in the Islamic world where countries like Saudi Arabia and Iran still do execute girls for losing their virginity outside marriage.

probably a lot of them. The fact that it got written into the bible law along with remedies for false accusations shows that they were having a problem with it. You don't make laws about things that nobody is having a problem with.

what IS this obsession with virginity and hymens? are you having some kind of problem in your personal life?btw, since ignorance seems to be another one of your pet peeves, you might want to do some editing..."And how male bias was this?" isn't even a complete sentence...

No, I cannot believe God would condone this punishment. Civilization back then was pretty brutal and sick. I am a Christian, but I do not believe that God was in that close of contact with mankind back then. They drew near him with their lips, but knew him not in their heart.

stop blaming God for ordeals that people do when they disobey His ways.
Bible says that God does not delight in this.
With all these questions, how do you stand in front of a Holy God?

Because men are never required to be virgins. Girls are. The bible is sexist. It was written by men.
