Christians act like they are terrified that any day now, an army of gay terrorists will break into their homes and shoot them with an evil death laser that will magically turn them into homosexuals. And so they devote countless hours and dollars to making life hell for gay/lesb people, and justify it by saying it's what God wants. Yet in the meantime they do nothing about the fact that half the world is being torn apart by war and poverty, and that millions of Americans are homeless, starving and uneducated. They do nothing about the fact that corporate greed is poisoning the planet and destroying the economy. They do nothing about the fact that the government is overpowered and violating the spirit in which it was created. In fact, they praise Bush for ignoring all these things as if Bush was God himself, and why? Because he hates homosexuality as much as they do. If I'm not mistaken, Jesus's original message was one of love. How is it that a non christian knows that and they do not?

Christians' obsession with gay marriage is mostly a human thing...it is something they can condemn someone else for that they don't do. Sad, I know, but they are human beings, too.

Personally, I do understand their desire to find someone and create a home with them, but I also choose to believe the bible, which says that sexuality is to be exclusively between a man and a woman (one person, for life). I cannot support gay marriage without being a hypocrite, and so will not support gay marriage. The lifestyle itself, is lumped into the group of sexual sins, which includes sex outside marriage, sex with anyone other than yourspouse, and sex between the same genders.

As for Bush, he is actually running the government in the truest sense of its original spirit. The government's first priority was to be the defense of the country. By keeping the war outside our borders, Bush is doing that. If we weren't fightning the war in Iraq, we would be fighting it in Illinois (or one of the other states). Remember 9-11? They brought it to us. The government's lowest priority is giving money and food and health care to American citizens. As a matter of fact, that isn't even the government's job. As a health care worker, I am really tired of providing health care (that I pay for through my taxes) to people who are too lazy to work. Medicare is different - those people paid for it. I am also tired of giving food away to those same people. They do not have a right to what I have earned. Period.

Marriage is the relationship that ensures the survival of the human race. It is also, first and foremost, a religious term, as marriage was originally given to us by God himself, for a very particular purpose.

"Gay marriage" is something else entirely.

That's why the words "gay marriage" will always constitute an insult to most people, and will be a continuing abomination in the eyes of God.

Most people have enough of a sense of propriety to try to keep their sins private, rather than flaunting them, in a ridiculous attempt to gain someone's approval.
