I have a signed Monet canvas titled Fields In Spring. Is it true that a print or copy cannot have his signature on it. I am trying t find out if this is original.

When a painting is photographed for reproduction, the original signature would be included in the photograph to show authenticity. This signature is an important part of the image, and will appear in any reproduction whether the artist is "famous" or not.

If your piece was an original painting, you'd be able to see true brushstrokes on the canvas, especially where it's signed.

Do you have any picture of this piece from a album of Monet?if you are sure that is not a print.you can refer the picture carefully to see whether the brushstrokes is on the right location.

another way ,If you have enough money and have certain specialized knowledge, you can find out it by analyzing the steps of painting and the way of using brush under x-ray.

Legally you are right, but the signature can be false. Any other information: date, registration number...
