Offset is when the club head is behind the center of the shaft. That is to help keep you hands infront of the ball. The is supposed to help keep you from hitting the ball to the right. Some people don't like them because they tend to hook the ball left. The regular woods you have to remember to keep your hands infront of the ball or you may hit it way right

An offset wood has the club head set back behind the shaft. The idea is it will lag behind the shaft and allow the golfer that little bit of extra time to close the club face and prevent a slice.

Yeah, the other people are right, they have the face behind the shaft and most will also have closed faces.
