Most golf balls on sale today have about 300 - 450 dimples. There were a few balls having over 500 dimples before. The record holder was a ball with 1,070 dimples. All brands of balls, except one, have even-numbered dimples. The only odd-numbered ball on market is a ball with 333 dimples.

There is no set number or standard. The key to dimpling a golf ball is the shape and depth of the dimple. Different shapes and depths make golf ball perform differently from golf balls with other shapes and depths. It's a complete science of its own.
