This is what the Bible says. St. John 3:5 says that we must be Born Again of the water and the Spirit. The Spirit is what gives us the power to overcome sin. Acts 2:38 says to repent and be baptized by immersion for the forgiveness of all of our sins. Then He will give us the Holy Ghost. Acts 2:4 10:45-46, 19:6, St Mark 16:17. This is the overcoming Spirit, the dispenser of His love, the leader in all truth!! This will help you!!

Look for a specialist ministry to people with that problem. They probably exist. Its like if you've had to deal with bullying, ordinary folks probably won't understand the issues and tell you to "pull yourself together"; they may think they are helping but are not.
I have heard it suggested that you can compel yourself to read the bible aloud (assuming youre a christian). Eg start with New testament, then go for key Old Testament books. An hour or two a day. Even if you feel guilt with respect to God, the Word actually gets you thinking right automatically, but gradually. At least, a pastor I heard who advised people who had gone AWOL in their faith due to sex or gambling or whatever, suggested this.

You admit your weakness, apologize to God for your sins, make a continuing good faith effort at repentance, and repeat as necessary, until either death, or success.
If near death, sincerely apologize one last time and hope that God is merciful.
If successful, thank God for his help. Then go out and help others suffering from similar issues.
Catholics have more resources to work with here, due to the sacrament of reconciliation, and the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist, and the abundant graces associated with receiving them.

Faith in God - the primary allegiance to Him, ought to lead you to Love, love what He likes, dislike what He doesnot. That leads to aberrations in behaviour, like an addiction. This is an arduous struggle to cast away any addiction. But the reward is His response to our love. So, the arduous task is worth taking... like a crusade. Kindly be on His Way, fight all the temptations. With a firm resolve, the task becomes a little less difficult, and in due course, it becomes easy task. Spiritual guidance helps on along the Way. Get close to a pious peson. Praying for success in your mission ! Best wishes.

Sex is a gift from God, but you really shouldn't abuse that gift, or He'll take it away from you. If your that addicted, take some time alone and pray for an answer. Or even go see a religious counselor.

To me, an addiction is an addiction. Some of us are addicted to drugs, others are addicted to food. Your addiction is sex. I would say, first and foremost, that you understand that God loves you completely, flaws and all.
I believe if you honestly want to bring your sexual addiction under control that God will honor that desire and help you with it. Gaining that control may be a process, rather than something that just instantly makes you "all better". I would say just pray and ask God to help you with this. As God honors our prayers, He will help you with this. God bless...
I loved your beautiful and wise answer, Echo C...
