I've been left wondering if there is really something very off-putting about this type of colouring ... Are there any guys who genuinely find it attractive?

Do what YOU feel comfortable in. If he doesn't like it, then lose him. Confidence is everything. Don't let some jerk take that away from you. But, you can always try a different color. Don't worry, you can always dye it back!

Tell him to p!ss off. Then go and find a decent boyfriend. Ive got very pale skin and my hair is naturally auburn and Ive never had a problem with finding a boyfriend. A lot of men find auburn hair really sexy.

I have auburn hair and pale colouring and my husband finds it attractive. Why is he with you if he doesn't find you attractive? To be honest, if he would say something so awful to you there is something badly wrong with him, loving people do not insult their loved ones. He would have to do something pretty wonderful to get back in my good books and frankly, I would be so angry at him I would probably dump him. You can do much much better than a evil-hearted meanie like him.

I think there's something wrong with your boyfriend. And you shouldn't change just to please him. I'm sure a lot of guys would find you very attractive. Don't try to get a new look, get a new boyfriend. If you think you're too pale, maybe you can see a make up consultant who could recommend a light shade of bronzing powder, something that looks natural. But I think auburn hair is a beautiful. My grandmother had that color and one of my sisters inherited it. And they both had very fair skin.

What a pig. First off, you sound lovely. I am a girl and my best friend has your colouring and I am VERY jealous as she always stands out in a crowd and her hair is such a vivid colour.

Don't even think of dying your hair or burning to a crisp on a sunbed for him!

You are beautiful and any guy that would tell you to your face that he wasn't turned on my your hair/skin coloring, is completely insensitive. Please don't let this guy ruin your self-esteem. There are plenty of people out there that would not only find you attractive, but genuinely appreciate you for more than your appearance. I realize he is your boyfriend and you care about what he thinks, but trust me, if he's making comments like this to you, he is not worth it.

Your boyfriend should love you for who you are,not your hair colour, auburn hair is beautiful,i don't know why people always have to say things about people with auburn hair.I have natural auburn hair, but i have dyed it for years, but my fiancee always told me to go back to my natural hair colour cos he said it's beautiful,so now im letting my hair grow back to my natural colour. So there is men out there that find it attractive.
