Born-again Christians await Jesus' return, but they speak passionately about a personal relationship that they have with Jesus now.

If Jesus is away, and you have never seen him, how can you have a personal relationship with him?

If Jesus is here and in relationship with you, where you speak with him and he speaks with you, why do you look for him to return?

Does "born-again" mean always having unfulfilled longing?

Great questions! And here's the answer. Born again Christians as myself, have a spiritual relationship with Jesus Christ, not a physical. Jesus Christ is omnipresent and is not away; we believe in Him by faith. There are some things in life that must be believed this way, there are no black and whites. We speak of His return, so that we may one day be in His physical presence in Heaven. The reason why He has not yet returned, is because not everybody that is going to, has accepted Him as Savior. God is waiting for everyone that will to come to Him, and when the last person that He knows will accept the gift of salvation, accepts Him, then He will gather the Christians in what is known as the Rapture. And when this happens, then we can begin the physical relationship and actually be able to see Him. But while we are here on earth, as I said, it is spiritual. And no, being born again does not mean having unfulfilled longing. Being born again, means having a guarantee that you will go to Heaven and not Hell, and it means that you will be blessed beyond measure! God is not an iron fisted ruler that will not properly take care of you! He is full of love, gentility, and patience and is always available to you at all times. He died and rose again so that you wouldn't have to go to Hell, so why then would being born again give you unfulfilled longing?? He promises great things for those that will follow Him!

Good questions indeed!

From the moment someone accepts Jesus into their heart and recoginized Him as their savior, He fills them with his Holy Spirit. This is how a Christian is able to have a personal relationship with Him, he becomes part of that person. He begins to direct their lives. It's up that individual to make choices in their own life, but he "speaks" to their heart. Before a person has Jesus in their heart, they are able to sin with little or no remorse or conviction. After salavation, they will turn from sin little by little, this does not mean that they will NEVER sin again, but that their will be conviction and the desire to live their lives as Jesus did. A Christian looks at the life of Jesus and pays attention to the little "tugs" ontheir heart which tell them right from wrong, If a Christian is in prayer about something, they wil feel it in their heart which direction to go, this is one of the ways that God leads a Christian.

A Chrstian awaits the return of Jesus because iwhen that day comes, Satan will be defeated and there will be no more suffering!

No one will truely be born again until Jesus returns. When one has accepted Jesus the Holy Spirit becomes part of you. You can feel the Holy Spirit with in you, in your heart and soul. When one has a relationship with Jesus, one prays to Jesus or just talks to Jesus and He can and does answer and guides us thru the Holy Spirit. When Jesus returns, that will be judgement day, this earth and the world as we now know it will no longer exist, it along with sin, hate and death, pain and tears and those who will still not believe will be cast into the lake of fire and a new earth will appear, it will be heaven, the New Jerusalem

Most Christians believe that Jesus will physically return to this Earth. And when they say they have a personal relationship with him, I believe that they are refering to the fact that they talk to him through prayer. Again, it is most often considered to be a two way conversation except that Jesus or God answers through small, but very profound revelations. The best way that this has been demonstrated, in my opinion, was by Robert Duvall in his movie "The Apostle".

As for the "Born Again", that refers to a spiritual re-birth. In other words, once you accept Christ into your life, you are spiritually born again and cleansed of the taint of original sin.

The Trinity is the three personas of God that make up God. There is the Father, Jesus Christ, and The Holy Spirit. It's hard to understand but they are all God, just in different forms. The Holy Spirit lives insode us and guides us. Since the Holy Spirit is God and Jesus is God that means we have Jesus always with us. When we say we are waiting for His return we are talking about His physical return but we have a personal relationship with Him spiritually.

Most Christians, including myself, believe that God is everywhere, including with us (within our heart and soul). God is not some far off deity, but everywhere, including Heaven. So, when you speak of Jesus being "away", that is a totally foreign concept to someone who shares a personal relationship with Christ. Scripture tells us that God will never leave us, nor forsake us. Other scripture tells us that God is with us always. Still, a Christian leads an earthly existence. Life can be very, very difficult sometimes. In Heaven, there will be no worry, no fear, no tears, no heartbreak. So, when we speak of Christ's return, I believe being with Christ in Heaven is the "longing" you speak of.

I'm waiting for my brother to return from Iraq, and I have a personal relationship with him.

Just because he's not here doesn't mean I'm incapable of having a relationship with him.

So, why can't I have one with Jesus too? What makes you think this is so impossible?

Besides, Jesus is physically present to me every time I enter a Catholic church. As a Catholic, I believe Jesus to be physically present in the form of the Eucharist.

So, Jesus IS here, and I do have a relationship with him.

We are looking for the return of Jesus, or better still the rapture, so we can behold Him face to face. Now we can walk with Him and talk with Him, in prayer and if you are diligent enough, you hear from Him and are directed by Him. Some people, not the average Christian are so close to Jesus that they communicate daily.

I'm sure you already know the answers you'll get on this.

But here goes:

Jesus will come again. So he's already come once. Christians have a relationship with him, in that they talk to him and they know he is there.

He will come again to defeat Satan and end the world as we know it. We will then live as we were first created to live. As those created in the image of God, as his children.
