It sounds like he is being territorial & he's doing the "alpha dog" trip. Did you just get another dog, if so that may be the reason. I'm not sure what you can do about it. Talk to the vet.

In any home there should only be one "PACK LEADER or ALPHA" and that should be you! It certainly sounds as though he feels that this is his position so you need to assert yourself and pronto.

I have had dogs that attempt to assert their position and depending on the age a quick grab (Neck as an older dog would do) and put down to the floor usually puts it to rest. Never go down to their level remain at yours (always over top). With an adult a guttural noise of displeasure with eye contact works. But you have to catch them just when he goes looking to mark. Afterwards is too late.
