boyfriend in Marine bootcamp and has had several illnesses. stated recently he may get to leave, but have to return in 6 months. I can't find any information about that. does anyone know what he might be talking about?

Possibly convalescent leave. If you undergo some type of procedure or have a particular condition, you may be given leave in order to recover and resume when you are better. Just like if a female has a baby, she would receive maternity leave, but if she had a C-section, she would in addition to maternity leave, be given conv. leave. It will not count against accrued leave.

yes, it's true.. if a person cannot recover quickly enough, but the docs feel that he can return at some point, they will send him home to recover and get healthy before he goes back. This typically happens with broken bones, but a series of illnesses can also be afactor, as being surrounded by all thos eother bodies does tend to do a number on your immune system.

That is odd.I went to boot camp back in 99.Injured my shoulder and was sent to Medical Rehabilitation Platoon.After a few months I was told I could either stay until it healed(which would been nearly a year) or get out.I chose to go home and then came back two years later and did BC all over again.The 6 month thing may be new though. Good luck to him.
