it's a myth. I've asked my chiropractor and he says it's actually good your pop your knuckles its releases some type of gas that builds up. Parents just made it up because they hate the sound of it. Now I pop my knuckle in front of my mom just to annoy her!

Cracking your knuckles or your back dose not directly cause arthristis, but it dose cause inflammation to the surrounding tissue over time do to the abuse. It dose this because the body suddenly thinks that this particular body part is being worn down and put thru it’s limits to often so there for it need more tissue to protect it from getting cracked again … you may think it’s relieving or fun but your body doesn’t really like it that much …
Hope this answer helps.

It really depends. If you do it very frequently and forcefully it can definitely lead to problems. Not only do you compress the joint which can lead to irritation of the cartilage and possible damage but can also lead to loosening of the ligaments that help support and stabilize the joint (this is from the repeated stretching). If this gets too severe then it can cause an instability and possible degenerative changes.

Yes, it does cause arthritis (which is REALLY painful, and you can't do the simplies tasks), like you can't wash the dishes or knit clothes or something.
And yes it does make your knuckle get better but only in some people
