It's good.......... highly popular in the UK & Europe, but there are newer lines out there which are just as strong & wear resistant, yet make Maxima look like Washing-line in comparison (in fact a few people say Maxima kinda of modify the truth a little about how thick the diameter of the line really is making slightly thicker than stated on the label to give the impression it's stronger than other lines)... and it's quite pricey too.
I'd suggest one of BERKLEY's range of lines, such as BERKLEY TRILENE XT which is supposed to be just as good as Maxima, doesn't cost quite so much (at Cabela's website at least) + unlike Maxima has passed EFTTA (European Fishing Tackle Trade Association) quality tests that verify the stated diameter & strength is truthful http://www.eftta.com/english/line_testing.html?cart=11724256754488986

Its a good line for my baitcaster. I used 12# on an Abu Garcia 5600 C4 with 1/2oz baits. Its smooth and limp and this helps casting. I have a hard time trying to find it so lately I've used other brands and haven't looked back.

Too expensive for what you get. Try P*Line CCX, it has low memory, and is very strong. Not too mention easy on the wallet.

I use it to tie my fly leaders because it is a bit stiffer than
other monofilament line. I find it to have very good knot strength.
